Last Thursday we braved the wet weather to attend the eagerly awaited Cambridge Black Tie Charity Event in aid of SOS Children’s Villages – and it was certainly worth it!

The evening was organised by a team of students from Anglia Ruskin University Lord Ashcroft International Business School as part of their final year project on the BA Enterprise and Entrepreneurial Management course.

We were among 80 guests at this sold out event which consisted of a three-course meal, entertainment from magician Luke Clough, and a high-energy auction hosted by Will Axon of BBC fame.

The team chose to support SOS Children’s Villages, a global charity that provides orphaned and abandoned children with a loving home, and helps families through community programmes. Funds from the evening will support SOS Children's Villages Base in The Gambia, providing a new home, education and healthcare to more than 120 children.

An impressive total of £6300 was raised from the evening, not only that, but with over 80% of the audience unaware of SOS Children’s Villages before the night, it helped provide a voice for this vital charity.

We’d just like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to the team for pulling off such a professional and enjoyable evening to aid such a great cause.
