My name is Eva and I’m currently studying a Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship here at Studio 24. This week is National Apprentice Week, so I thought I would put together a blog post about my experiences as an apprentice.

After finishing 2 years at Cambridge Regional College, I wanted to continue my education, but wasn’t sure what direction to go in. University wasn’t something I wanted to do, so another option was completing an apprenticeship. I didn’t know much about apprenticeships, so I started doing some research and found some really useful information on the Gov.uk website. I applied to two different apprenticeships, and although I wasn’t successful in my first interview, it really helped me prepare and understand how an interview might take place.

After learning from my previous mistakes, I prepared for my interview with Studio 24 with lots of research into the company and coming up with lots of questions to ask. Asking questions shows the employer you have a genuine interest in this job role.

Starting off an apprenticeship can be daunting, which is why it’s so important to do your research and make sure you are aware of everything involved in an apprenticeship, and how it all works. You should also take into consideration the sort of tasks you will be completing, and the potential future career path you can follow.

My first few months at Studio 24 were a really big learning curve. I had never worked for an agency before, so I was learning new skills every day. As I got more into my apprenticeship, the more tasks I was trusted with. This made me feel proud, as my colleagues knew and trusted that I could help with these certain tasks.

I have also been given the opportunity to attend many conferences and workshops during my apprenticeship. I have attended BrightonSEO, MeasureFest and many local workshops in Cambridge. These opportunities are great throughout an apprenticeship as you can pick up on both industry and personal growth advice.

My apprenticeship has also helped me achieve some awards which I am really proud of. I have won Apprentice of The Year in ICT at the CRC Apprentice Awards, as well as Apprentice of The Year at the DevelopHER Awards, which you can read more about in our blog Studio 24 Apprentice Wins DevelopHER Award.

I’ve now been on my apprenticeship for 17 months, and it is soon due to end. I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship, and it has definitely prepared me for taking the step into a digital marketing career.

I would definitely recommend anyone considering an apprenticeship to go forward with it. Apprenticeships are an amazing way of both gaining experience and working in the industry. You will have a good few years of experience by the time you decide to start a career in the industry, and also a great qualification to go alongside it. Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for young people, no matter what industry you want to work in!
