Introduction
Accessibility considerations don’t just disappear once your website has gone live. Your website content – text, images, video, audio – has as much of a bearing on accessibility as the framework in which it is presented.
At Studio 24 we believe accessibility is an ongoing, collaborative effort with our clients. In this guide you will find practical tips, plus links to detailed resources and useful tools, to help you make sure that your content is as accessible and user-friendly as possible.
Accessibility overlays: a note of caution
Also known as accessibility plugins, accessibility widgets or assistive toolbars, accessibility overlays are third-party software marketed as being able to make websites more accessible. They are usually added to a website with a small piece of code.
Be wary of any product claiming to automatically fix accessibility issues. Accessibility overlays do not improve website accessibility. They may cause issues for people using assistive technologies, and will not make you compliant with accessibility regulations.
