Abbeygate is a delightfully charming and unique cinema located within the heart of the historic sector of Bury St Edmunds.
Independently owned by Tony Jones, co-founder of numerous UK cinemas and Festival Director of the Cambridge Film Festival, Abbeygate Cinema delivers a tasteful and refined theatre-like experience with a strong mix of arthouse, independent and quality mainstream films.
Housed within the cinema is also a fully licensed restaurant/bar offering a mouth-watering homemade menu.
Having worked with us on the Cambridge Film Festival for many years, Tony was in no doubt as to which agency to choose when he purchased the cinema and embarked on this exciting new project.
The brief included development of the new Abbeygate brand from scratch, followed by creation of the entire online presence for the cinema.
The first stage of this project was to create the Abbeygate brand. Our design team worked closely with the client on logo development, colour palettes, typography, photography direction and examples of brand usage. The result, a full branding style guide, which could be used throughout the business.
Once this work had been completed, we moved onto the next phase of designing and developing the new website. Involving the team who completed the brand development, we worked through wireframes and concept designs to reach a final design, which reflected the objectives of the new brand entirely.
www.abbeygatecinema.co.uk was developed in a fully responsive manner so that users have a great experience on the site no matter what device they are using. An intuitive Content Management System (CMS) was installed to ensure a cost-effective way for staff to easily edit the site.
To provide customers with the full online experience we integrated Abbeygate’s booking system, Newman, within the site. Since then, as part of our ongoing work with the cinema, we have worked with them to ensure a smooth transition to their new chosen booking system, Savoy.
