Most weekends are for relaxing, not for this Studio 24 team!

On Sunday 25th March we took on the 6 miles and the 10-mile mud obstacle course in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance service at their Only the Brave event at the Elveden Estate in Thetford forest.

The team has competed in previous years but this year decided to go the ‘whole hog’ with last years’ team taking on the full 10-mile course, and we loved it!

Just survived Only the Brave 2018! 10 miles of running through freezing cold mud and water obstacles. Sounds strange to say, but I loved every minute of it!

The event took part over one day this year, with waves of keen runners starting at 2-hour intervals, this was so that the course wouldn’t get too crowded and everyone could enjoy their run to the fullest.

We were up bright and early for the 9.30am race start, and everyone made it on time (even though the clocks went back). We were not even a mile in when we were challenged with plunging into icy water up to our necks, a good start to the race.

With even more obstacles this year and a great variety of climbing, wading, crawling and scrambling we felt that the organisers had certainly outdone themselves. There were some old favourites returning and some new bigger and better climbing obstacles:

We were even treated to a fly-by from the air ambulance itself as it surveyed the race from above!

The East Anglian Air Ambulance has attended over 20,000 missions costing roughly £3,500 per-mission. The Air Ambulance is a non- government funded service and cannot continue its vital work without the continued generosity of its supporters.

We are still collecting funds for our race if you would like to donate, you can use the link to our JustGiving page below:
