The client

Set up to take over from Cambridge City Council the governance, management, and operation of the Cambridge Folk Festival, Cambridge Corn Exchange, Guildhall, and other live arts and entertainment events, this non-profit distributing organisation makes a key contribution to accessible culture in the region.

The project

The Cambridge Live team knew that their new website needed to make a huge impact as it was to be used as the main tool for launching the public face of this new organisation.

After admiring our work with the Cambridge Film Festival and meeting with the team to discuss the project, they chose to partner with us to develop www.cambridgelivetrust.co.uk.

This single website was a great challenge as it needed to bring together the individual business operations onto one domain to market all Cambridge Live Trust events, venues, and services.

To meet the project objectives we carried out the following work:

  • We explored the user experience (UX) in the initial scoping phase, identifying key objectives to include easy navigation to the ‘What’s On’ section, a simple ticketing purchase process, and customer confidence and trust in the organisation and events.
  • The site was built in a responsive manner so that it worked across all devices and to help ensure site stability for the future.
  • Based on the requirements of this project the popular and powerful OpenSource CMS Drupal was used. We provided full training and installed and configured it so that the Cambridge Live team could maintain all elements of the website.
  • The existing ticketing solution was integrated onto the new website via an iFrame which enabled a single ticketing portal for all Cambridge Live Trust managed events, a portal for other Cambridge Live promoted events, and integration with third party ticketing solutions.
  • As part of the Search Engine Optimisation strategy, in the build up to the new site going live, we ensured the search engines did not confuse the new website as duplicated content and checked all links went directly to the new domain. Our continued SEO work is now carried out on an ongoing basis to optimise the site.

We were immensely proud to see the new site launched along with the charity itself at a spectacular celebration event in the City, for which we were the key sponsors.
