Website users want nothing but easy access to informationRSS
Local businesses can boost their credibility by having a simple, professional website, a new survey has suggested.
A poll of internet users by Search Engine Land has indicated that most consumers are only interested in having easy access to basic information about a firm.
When asked what three parts of a website they find most valuable, 65 per cent of those questioned said that they wanted clear access to a list of prices; whilst a full list of services, easy to find contact details and a business's physical address were also in demand.
Commenting on the results, digital marketing expert Myles Anderson warned web designers about the pitfalls of making a website too complicated.
He said: "Local consumers have simple needs. They want to know what you offer, what it costs and how to contact you! Give them this information upfront, don't make them dig around your site looking for it.
"Your website visitors have a need (i.e the service you provide) and the sooner you demonstrate that you can satisfy that need, the better."
An article from prwire.com.au has built on these points, suggesting that web designers should scrap any plans they have for adding unnecessary features like music, registration or flash animation.
Jolyon Barker, global lead for Deloitte's technology, media and telecommunications unit, suggests the tablet market will grow this year: "The tablet explosion has shown little sign of slowing down since hitting the market in 2010 and is set to take the mantle of the most rapid multiple market penetration in history."
